This roundie was designed by WVN Living in collaboration with Nekid Swimwear, and handwoven by a weaver in La Union, Philippines, which has a weaving tradition and history that goes as far back as the galleon trade during the Spanish period.

To make a large fabric in La Union, two weavers sit side by side on a floor loom, throwing and catching the shuttle (a tool that holds thread for the warp) to create the fabric. The wooden pedals they use vary depending on the Inabel design. For this particular design, wasig, they use a 2-pedal loom.

It uses a light Inabel fabric and comes with a pompom trimming. Used as a cover-up, a picnic or beach mat, or even a table mantle.

SAY HI TO

WVN Living

WVN Living is a women-owned enterprise that works with artisan communities in the Philippines to co-create handmade lifestyle products in the hope of supporting local artisans and sustaining living traditions.

Meet the founders
Kylie & Yvette

Our love story with local craftsmanship began with a road trip. We decided to hit the road and see where it took us. It led us to a town called Bangar (La Union), where we met the women weavers. We were greatly moved by their hard work and the beauty of their products. After we spent time talking to some of the weavers, who told us that the tradition was dying in their community because the younger generation is no longer interested in continuing the craft, we were determined to do something that would somehow address this.

In late 2016, we started WVN Home Textiles as a passion project on top of our day jobs, joining Christmas bazaars with our minimum viable product, which were our blanket towels. In 2017, we successfully crowdfunded our first line of towels and blanket towels with The Spark Project, exceeding our goal by 75%, as well as finding a community of intentional supporters in the process. We also started joining the Likhang HABI Fair that year.

more about
WVN Living's Purpose

Since then, we have become a business with a social mission: to contribute to wellbeing (ginhawa) through the sustainability of Filipino artisanal craftsmanship (gawa). We have expanded our reach to artisan communities in La Union, Cavite, Isabela and Albay.

With the changes brought about by the pandemic, we stepped into 2021 as WVN Living, emphasizing that sustaining living traditions, like weaving, means integrating it into our every day lifestyle.

now that you know them..
